Sugar prices drop further on heavy stocks, weak demand

Sugar prices dropped further by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following relentless supplies from mills amid sluggish demand.

Marketmen said adequate stocks following persistent supplies from mills against limited offtake by stockists and bulk consumers kept the sweetner's prices in the negative territory for the second consecutive day today.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices declined further by Rs 20 each to end at Rs 3,180-3,400 and Rs 3,170-3,390 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also fell by Rs 20 each to end at Rs 3,050-3,200 and Rs 30430-3,190 per quintal.
 

In the mill gate section, sugar Kinnoni, Asmoli, Khatuli and Simbholi slackened by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,200, Rs 3,170, 3,185 and Rs 3,170 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal)

Sugar retail markets - Rs 32.00-35.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,180-3,400, S-30 Rs 3,170-3,390.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,050-3,200, S-30 Rs 3,040-3,190.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,100, Kinnoni Rs 3,200, Asmoli Rs 3,170, Dorala Rs 3,100, Budhana Rs 3,100, Thanabhavan Rs 3,095, Dhanora Rs 3,200, Simbholi Rs 3,170, Khatuli Rs 3,185, Dhampur Rs 3,070, Ramala Rs 3,100, Anupshaher Rs 3,090, Baghpat Rs 3,110, Morna Rs 3,105, Sakoti Rs 3,070, Chandpur Rs 3,075, Nazibabad Rs 3,070, Modinagar 3,070, Shamli 3,060, and Nanota 3,100.
