Sugar prices drop on reduced demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar dropped further at the Vashi wholesale sugar market here today in the absence of demand from stockist and bulk consumers amidst adequate stock positions.

Medium sugar (M-30) fell by Rs 80/30 per quintal to Rs 3,152/3,381 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 3,232/3,411.

Small sugar (S-30) also declined by Rs 20/10 per quintal to Rs 3,082/3,170 as against Rs 3,102/3,180 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,082/3,170 (Rs 3,102/3,180.

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,152/3,381 (Rs 3,232/3,411).
