Sugar prices fall on poor demand, good supply

Sugar prices dropped modestly at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to lack of buying from stockists and bulk consumers amid adequate supply.

Medium sugar (M-30) moved down by Rs 4/10 per quintal to Rs 3,156/3,301 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 3,160/3,311.

Small sugar (M-30) also edged down by Rs 4 per quintal to Rs 3,048/3,132 as compared to Rs 3,052/3,132 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,156/3,301 (Rs 3,160/3,311).

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,048/3,132 (Rs 3,052/3,132).
