Sugar prices rise on seasonal demand, thin supply

Rising for the second straight day, sugar prices added another Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today on pick-up in demand from bulk consumers amidst restricted supplies.

Marketmen said pick-up in demand from stockists, retailers and bulk consumers following rising mercury mainly pushed up sweetener prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices were higher by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,810-2,950 and Rs 2,800-2,940 per quintal.

Similarly, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also rose by a similar margin to close at Rs 2,610-2,800 and Rs 2,600-2,790 per quintal, respectively.

In the millgate section, sugar Kinnoni, Simbholi, ramala, and Dhampur also moved up by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,800, Rs 2,780,
 

Rs 2,620 and Rs 2,660 per quintal.

In tandem with overall better trend, Asmoli, Modinagar, Anupshar, Nazibabad and Dorala also edged up by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,730, Rs 2,655, Rs 2,610, Rs 2,620 and Rs 2,685 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 30.00-34.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 2,810-2,950 S-30 Rs 2,800-2,940.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,610-2,800 S-30 Rs 2,600-2,790.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 2,680, Kinnoni Rs 2,800, Asmoli Rs 2,730, Dorala Rs 2,685, Budhana Rs 2,680, Thanabhavan Rs 2,670, Dhanora Rs 2,660, Simbholi Rs 2,780, Modi Nagar Rs 2,655, Khatuli Rs 2,770, Dhampur 2,660, Ramala Rs 2,620, Bulandshahr Rs 2,650, Anupshar Rs 2,610, Baghpat Rs 2,620, Morna Rs 2,620, Sakoti Rs 2,650, Chandpur Rs 2,640, Nazibabad Rs 2,620.
