Sugar prices surge on strong demand, tight supply

Sugar prices flared up by Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following strong demand from stockists as well as bulk consumers amid restricted supplies from mills.

Marketmen attributed rise in sweetener prices to firm demand from stockists and bulk consumers and tight supplies from mills.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices swifted from Rs 3,150-3,350 and Rs 3,140-3,340 to Rs 3,180-3,360 per quintal.

Sugar prices have rallied by Rs 300 per quintal during the past two weeks.

In the millgate section, sugar Khatuli rose by Rs 20 to Rs 3,150 per quintal, while Anupshaher, Baghpat, Ramala and Morna were up by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,920, Rs 2,930, Rs 2,920 and Rs 2,930 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 30.00-37.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,180-3,360, S-30 Rs 3,170-3,350.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,920-3,200, S-30 Rs 2,910-3,190.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,090, Kinnoni Rs 3,200, Asmoli Rs 3,200, Dorala Rs 3,090, Budhana Rs 3,090, Thanabhavan Rs 3,080, Dhanora Rs 3,080, Simbholi Rs 3,180, Khatuli Rs 3,150, Dhampur Rs 3,070, Ramala Rs 2,920, Anupshaher Rs 2,920, Baghpat Rs 2,930, Morna Rs 2,930, Sakoti Rs 3,060, Chandpur Rs 3,060, Nazibabad Rs 2,920 and Malakpur Rs 3,030.
