Sugar slips on sluggish demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar slipped at the Vashi wholesale market today due to sluggish demand from stockists and retailers amid ample supply position.

Small sugar (S-30) declined by Rs 22/7 per quintal to Rs 3,600/3,735 from Monday's closing level Rs 3,622/3,742.

Medium sugar (M-30) moved down to Rs 7 per quintal to Rs 3,682/3,845 as against Rs 3,682/3,852 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,600/3,735 (Rs 3,622/3,742)

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,682/3,845 (Rs 3,682/3,852).
