Sukesh's custody extended till Aug 17 in cheating case

A court here today extended till August 17 the custody of middleman Sukesh Chandrasekhar, arrested by Delhi Police for his alleged bid to bribe an EC official on behalf of AIADMK (Amma) leader TTV Dhinakaran, in a seven-year-old cheating case.

Sukesh, now in Tihar Jail in Delhi in connection with the two-leaves symbol case, was brought here early today by Delhi Police and produced before Second Judicial Magistrate Rajkumar.

The case here related to alleged cheating of a kitchen equipment dealer Rajavelu of Rs 2.50 lakh on the promise of securing a tender from the Karnataka government in 2010.

Charges against Sukesh were framed in the cheating case by the magisterial court here on July 20.
 

The magistrate today extended Sukesh's custody till August 17 and directed authorities to produce him on that day.

Later, Sukesh was taken to Delhi by train amid tight security.
