Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today demanded a white paper on the fiscal mess created by Congress-led UPA government with the plummeting value of Rupee against Dollar.
Talking to reporters after administering oaths to 460 sarpacnhes and 2,740 panches of the district here, he said the economic downtrend was of great concern to every citizen as investors have already started fleeing the country.
With the country facing down grade ratings, the Rupee may touch a record low of Rs 65 and would have a cascading effect on inflation, he said.

"The bankrupt Centre has lost faith of people and investors, and situation has come to such a point that they are not even ready to subscribe to shares of renowned public sector undertakings at rock bottom rates," Sukhbir said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said "with an economist Prime Minister at the helm of affairs, the country's economic deterioration reflects a total mismatch in policies and execution of the UPA-II government and it should come out with a white paper on the economic situation."
Lashing out at the Centre for "stabbing" the common man and farmers, he said deregulating fuel prices was directly aimed at filling the coffers of multinational oil companies.
People are left to face the brunt of daily price rise and the Centre is reluctant on linking MSP of agriculture produce with the Whole Sale Price Index, he said.
