Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today showered praises on an Akali Dal leader, who had been sentenced to one year in prison in a defamation case.
Sukhbir patted chairman of Amritsar District Planning Committee Veer Singh Lopoke on the back for his "efforts and struggle" and said Badals considered him a member of their family.
Lopoke was awarded one-year imprisonment by a court here on September 18 in a defamation case filed by Congress MLA Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria in 2012.
Sukhbir said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal considers Raja Sansi as his own constituency and never turns down any recommendation made by Lopoke.
