Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today trained his guns on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying he had suddenly become a well-wisher of the poor.

"It seems the family has awakened after 64 years of deep sleep" as the Congress vice-president had suddenly become a well-wisher of the poor, Badal said.

Referring to Gandhi's recent reported remarks that poverty was a state of mind, he said such statements showed how much the Gandhi scion was cut off from the ground reality.

The remarks were unfortunate, Badal told a public meeting here.

At another rally at Guruharsahai in Ferozepur, he said bringing back black money stashed abroad would be top priority of the NDA in the event of its coming to power at the Centre in the next elections.

Terming the Congress-led UPA government as the "most corrupt", Badal alleged it was pursuing policies which were responsible for country's economic slowdown.

The so-called government of "Aam Aadmi" was actually anti-people and pro-MNC, he said.

Turning to Narendra Modi, Badal said the BJP's prime ministerial candidate was a "matchless political figure".

At Fazilka, he alleged the UPA government had financially ruined the country and demanded a white paper on its fiscal status.

On the other hand, the Punjab's fiscal health is fine, he said.
