Advocate Sushiben Shah, daughter of former Congress minister B A Desai, was today appointed as chairperson of Maharashtra State Women Commission.
The appointment was made against the backdrop of the post lying vacant for quite some time and the Bombay High Court recently pulling up the government over growing crimes against women.
Besides Shah, the government has also appointed six other members in the commission, a source said.
