Tea planter kidnapped

A tea planter has been

allegedly kidnapped by suspected adivasi militants in Assam's Sonitpur district bordering Arunachal Pradesh, police said today.

A group of five suspected militants kidnapped 60-year-old Dalim Bora from his residence at Nahorjan in Biswanath sub division of Sonitpur district last night.

Bora's family members informed the police who began search operations, Sonitpur Superintendent of Police Arabinda Kalita said.

"There has been no demand for ransom so far", he said.

The police suspect the involvement of All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) as they had information about the presence of a group of 12 militants of the outfit taking shelter in the areas bordering Arunachal Pradesh.
