Tehsildars, driver arrested on graft charges

The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau today arrested a tehsildar and his driver for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Pali district, an official said.

Tehsildar, Sojat, Satyanarayan Verma, is accused of demanding the bribe from Rajmal Mewara through his driver, Superintendent of Police (SP), anti-corruption bureau, Kailash Chand Vishnoi, said.

He had taken the bribe for a land mutation related work, he said.

"The accused had taken Rs 5,000 before the complaint (by Mewara) was verified. A trap was laid today and the accused were caught red-handed taking the bribe amount of Rs 10,000 in the tehsil office," the officer said.

Both the accused were arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
