Telangana infotech policy to be announced soon

The Telangana government plans to unveil an infotech policy in the third week of December, aimed at increasing software exports worth Rs 1,20,000 crore from the state, it was officially announced here today.

Observing that Hyderabad is already an attractive destination for infotech industry, state IT minister K T Rama Rao said that the policy would emphasise on faster clearances, a state government release said.

The government hopes to see a 16 per cent growth for the infotech industry which could provide direct and indirect employment to about 20 lakh people, he said in the release.

The last few days, the Minister had held consultations with officials about the new policy, the release said.
 

The proposed policy would emphaasise on promoting research, innovation and entrepreneurship among students. The government plans to encourage industrialisation in Tier-II cities through the policy, the release said.

The policy would give importance to social media, analytics and cloud computing, the Minister said, according to the release.
