Rains lashed several places in Punjab and Haryana as maximum temperatures stayed below normal in various parts of the states.
Mercury in Chandigarh settled at 35.3 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal as the city received 3 mm of rainfall, the MeT Department said here today.
Among other places, Ambala and Karnal recorded their maximum temperatures at 38.1 and 39.2 degrees Celsius respectively. Ambala received 0.5 mm of rainfall, it said.

However, Hisar in Haryana witnessed a hot day with 43.3 degrees Celsius as the maximum temperature.
Amritsar and Ludhiana recorded 41 and 39.7 degrees Celsius temperatures respectively, the weatherman said.
Patiala, with rainfall of 0.1 mm, recorded its maximum at 39.4 degrees Celsius.
The Department has predicted light rains or thundershowers at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana for the next 24 hours.
