Temperatures in most parts of Punjab and Haryana today hovered below normal, even as Hisar was the hottest place in the two states with a maximum temperature of 39.2 degrees Celsius.
Chandigarh received light rainfall and recorded a maximum temperature recorded a maximum of 35.3 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, the MeT Department said here.
In Haryana, Karnal registered a maximum of 36.2 degrees Celsius while mercury in Ambala settled at 36.7 degrees Celsius, it said.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 33.9 degrees Celsius, four notches by rainfall after light rainfall.
Ludhiana and Patiala recorded maximum temperatures of 36.1 and 37.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
According to the weatherman, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in the two states in the next two days.
