A prosecution witness in the 2013 Shil-Daighar building collapse case today told a local court that illegal constructions were rampant in the premises and officials of the civic body were informed about it.

The witness Sharad Patil deposed before District Judge V V Bambarde, who is hearing the case.

In the Shil-Daighar building collapse in April 2013, 74 people were killed while over 60 injured.

Patil informed the court that he had repeatedly brought to the notice of the senior officials of the Thane Municipal Corporation about the rampant illegal constructions in the Lucky Compound premise located in the Shil-Daighar area.

The officials, however, did not respond, Patil told the judge.

The main witness in the case told the court last week that he had warned the civic authorities about the impending danger due to the construction of substandard and unauthorised structure.
