Thaneits run for the cause of women empowerment

Thousands of citizens today participated in "Kranti Daud" run organised by a local NGO, to spread awareness about women empowerment, with Arjuna awardee athlete Anju Bobby George flagging off the event.

The run started from Khevra Circle in Pawar Nagar area, wherein Anju also joined the runners for a short distance.

The run is organised by the NGO 'Apan Sare' on the theme of "Empowerment of Women".

The participants, also including children from various schools of the city, braved intermittent showers to take part in the event.

As part of the event, competitions were held in eight groups, four each in categories of men and women.
 

Speaking on the occasion, Anju advised athletes "not to take any shortcuts and do their best for promoting sports in the country.
