After two days of domination in the pool, India today shared the spoils with Sri Lanka in the swimming competition of the 12th South Asian Games even as Asian Games medallist Sandeep Sejwal won his third gold medal, here today
Both India and Sri Lanka won three gold medals each during the day, while Bangladesh won one. In all, India won three gold, four silver and one bronze.
Sejwal, who has already won two gold medals for India at the Games, added another gold to his kitty, by winning the 50m breaststroke with a meet record timing of 28.79 seconds.
V Malvika won the women's 800m freestyle event while PS Madhu bagged the third gold for India by winning the 100m backstroke for men.
But, Sri Lankan Kimiko Raheem stole the limelight by picking two gold medals today, adding to the earlier one she had won yesterday. Kimiko set a Games record of 1:03.78s to win the gold in 100m backstroke for women and wrapped the day with another gold in 50m freestyle.
Matthew Abeysinghe of Sri Lanka, who has already picked four gold medals in the Games, won his fifth today in the 400m medley for men.
India also picked four silver medals through Sanu Debnath
(men's 400m IM), Maana Patel (women's 100m backstroke), Sethu Manickavel of India (men's 100m backstroke) and Puneet Rana (men's 50m breaststroke). Maana Patel also won a bronze in 50m freestyle for women.
