Thousands of devotees visit Chaturdash Devata temple

Thousands of devotees visited the Chaturdash Devata temple at 'Puran Agartala' near here, to offer pujas as the week-long 'Kharchi festival', one of the most popular festivals of Tripura began today.

Tripura Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb inaugurated the festival by lighting lamp in the presence of State Revenue Minister N C Debbarma, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Council and other dignitaries.

Deb said Kharchi is the biggest traditional festival in the state.

"Earlier, the kings of Tripura offered pujas to the 14 Gods and Goddesses, but later it became the festival of common people," he said.
