Threat caller at Metro Railway arrested

A day after the Metro Railway authority received a threat call claiming to blow up a station, Special Task Force (STF) of the Kolkata Police today arrested the caller from Usthi in South 24-Parganas district.

The arrested anonymous caller has been identified as Palash Purokayastha, a youth in his thirties, City police sources said.

Purokayastha, a resident of Sarsuna area, works as a cable operator, they said, adding during interrogation, Purokayastha admitted to the crime saying he used his girl friend's SIM card for the call to teach her a lesson, since he was not having good terms with her recently.
 

Purokayastha would be produced before a city court tomorrow, the sources said.

Security of the city's Metro Railway services had been beefed up at all stations immediately after the Metro Railway authority received the threat call yesterday morning.

"The threat call by an anonymous caller at around 11.30 AM yesterday claimed to blow up a station by 6.30 PM," Metro Railway CPRO R N Mahapatra said adding "we have come to know the caller has been arrested.
