Three arrested for duping man of Rs 30 lakh

Three persons were arrested by Kolkata Police for allegedly duping a man of Rs 30 lakh by promising him that he would felicitate one of his relatives admission into the MBBS course, police said today.

The accused three - Sanchayan Dasgupta, Nayan Banerjee and Debashis Dalai were arrested late last night by Kolkata Police sleuths for their alleged involvement in duping one Subhendu Sekhar Mondal, resident of Murshidabad, of Rs 30 lakh promising to get his niece get admission for MBBS course at a Haldia-based private medical college, a senior officer of the force said.

The accused were running an office named 'IQ Educational Service' in south Kolkata, he said.
 

"On the pretext of arranging admission for the niece of the complainant in MBBS course at ICare Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Haldia they took Rs 30 lakh in two instalments. After that they fled shutting down their office," the senior officer of Kolkata Police said.

The accused trio switched off their mobile phones and kept on changing their hideouts making it difficult for the sleuths to spot them. They were tracked down and arrested from different locations yesterday, he said.

When produced at a city court, the accused trio were remanded to police custody till June 19.
