Three arrested for trying to kidnap woman

Three persons were arrested for allegedly trying to kidnap a middle aged woman from a hired car at Survey Park area of the city early today.

DC (South) Santosh Pandey said at around 12.30 AM, a couple had boarded an SUV from Mondal Para of Kolkata to travel upto Bigbazar.

Three more persons were also there in the SUV.

After the husband got down from the vehicle to purchase cigarette at Ajoynagar, the SUV started moving at high speed towards south Kolkata, Pandey said.

The husband informed the police who acted quickly and intercepted the SUV. The woman was rescued and the three were arrested, he said.
