The police had recovered the body of Vinod Kumar Das (30), a resident under Sitaramdera police station area, from behind Haathi Ghora temple near Swarnarekha river under Sakchi police station.

Vinod was crushed to death by unidentified persons and a complaint was lodged, said Senior Superintendent of Police, Amol V Homkar.

A special police team head by Deputy Superintendent of Police (city) Animesh Nathani was constituted to investigate the case, he said adding, during the course of investigation, Homkar said three persons - Rajesh Kumar Das, brother of the victim, Nitesh Kumar Sonkar and Pramod Sharma - were arrested.

During interrogation, Sonkar and Sharma told the police that they had killed Vinod as he was opposed Rajesh's illicit relation with his wife, which strained the relationship between the two brothers, Homkar said.

Rajesh, along with his two accomplices conspired and invited Vinod for a drink near the river bed, where they crushed him to death with stones, Homkar added.
