Three bears attack old man in Odisha

A 55-year-old man was injured after three wild bears attacked him in Odisha's district today, forest officials said.

The incident happened at Rampuda village under the jurisdiction of station, the police said.

The injured was identified as Yudhistira Nayak, a resident of the same village, they said.

The bears attacked him when he was on his way to take a bath at the village pond today morning, the Forest Range Officer of Polasara, Prabhat Ranjan Das, said.

The animals ran away into a nearby forest after the villagers chased them, he said.

The said that the bears were hiding in the hilly areas near the village.

The injured was initially admitted to a community health centre (CHC) in Aska and then shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, police said.

His condition is stated to be serious, the police said.
