Three bogies of empty train gutted in fire

Press Trust of India Hyderabad

The incident took place at around one pm today and since the train (Falaknuma-Umadnagar) was scheduled to depart at 1.30 pm there were no passengers inside it at the time of the incident and hence no casualties were reported, they said.

According to officials, fire started from the train engine and the flames soon spread to other bogies. Two bogies were gutted while another bogie was partially burnt, officials added.

The train driver, who initially noticed the fire, tried in vain to extinguish it and later informed the fire department. It took three fire engines more than two and half hours to douse the flames, a fire official said.

10 local trains on the route were partially cancelled following the incident.

Officials are yet to ascertain the reason for the fire.
