"The government has accorded sanction to the grant of Tabinda Gani State Award of Bravery for Children for the year 2012 under three categories in favour of three children," the spokesman said.
Mohammad Vasat, a resident of Badhoon Tehsil of Rajouri district, has been selected for the award under Category-I. He will receive a gold medal, cash prize of Rs 50,000, citation and a monthly scholarship of Rs 1,000 for education.
The other recipients are Muzamil Masood Ganai of Shopian district (Category-II) and Abdul Aziz Sofi of Budgam district (Category-III), he said.
While Ganai will receive a gold medal, Rs 35,000 cash prize, a citation and monthly scholarship of Rs 1,000, Sofi will get gold medal, citation, scholarship of Rs 1,000 per month and a cash prize of Rs 25,000.
The bravery award was instituted in the memory of 14-year-old Tabinda Gani who was raped and killed by her abductors in Kupwara district five years ago.
