Three die as tree falls on them

The joy of viewing the waterfalls at Vattakanal in Kodaikanal hills turned fatal for three tourists, including a woman, as a tree got uprooted and collapsed on them today following heavy rains, police said.

Five other tourists were injured in the freak accident.

Those killed have been identified as Abhinaya from Bangalore, Ilango and Vinoth, both from Tamil Nadu, they said.

While Ilango and Vinoth were killed on the spot, Abhinaya died on the way to a hospital, police said.
