Three girls, aged between five and six years, died in a remote village of Bihar's Jamui district allegedly after consuming a poisonous wild fruit or leaf, police said today.
The incident took place at Khaira Lebar village in the early hours when the girls had accompanied their mothers to a nearby forest for offering puja, according to Umesh Kumar, in-charge of Sono police station.
The girls apparently ate some wild fruit or leaf while their mothers were busy with the rituals.
They started vomitting immediately and died within a few minutes, he added.
