Three held after Rs one crore seized from them in Patna

Three persons were arrested after a sum of Rs one crore was seized from the Scorpio they were travelling in Patna today, police and sources at the Income Tax department said.

During a search operation, the Scorpio was stopped near DPS More on busy Bailey road kept in a box and the cash was seized, SSP Manu Maharaj told PTI.

The three persons in the Scorpio, one with a rifle, said the cash belonged to a security agency SIS but could not produce relevant papers about it following which they were arrested, the SSP said.

Meanwhile, I-T department of Bihar and Jharkhand which has launched a crackdown on black money and unaccounted cash in current Parliamentary elections have intervened in the incident.
 

The I-T department, so far, has seized over Rs 90 lakh unaccounted cash in Bihar and Rs 24 lakh in Ranchi so far.
