Three persons were today arrested for allegedly assaulting a forest Ranger on duty at Mukundarayar Chattiram near here.
Police said Ranger Sathiah had warned them not to use the forest pathway, and go to Dhanushkodi by taking the normal highway.
However the three, who were driving a van, argued with the Ranger and pushed him aside and drove the vehicle through the forest pathway, police said.
On a complaint from the forest ranger, they were arrested and remanded to judicial custody, police added.
