A local priest was among three persons arrested in Secunderabad yesterday for allegedly duping people under the pretext of providing them jobs in government as well as in private sector, an official said today.

While D Vittal, S Padma Reddy, and B Niranjan Kumar were picked up at Alugaddabavi cross roads, another member of the gang, identified only as Ramesh, is on the run.

According to the police, Vittal, who works as a priest, used to convince his potential targets that he can get them jobs by performing some kind of black magic. Reddy and Kumar are Ayurvedic doctor and businessman, respectively.

In last March, one N Bal Chandram was allegedly cheated of Rs 30 lakh by the four on the pretext of providing him job in Income Tax department, the officer said, adding that further investigation is on.
