Three youths have been arrested for allegedly abusing a contract worker of the Forest department, who questioned them for playing loud music in a forest area near this hill resort town.

Police said the youth from Tuticorin allegedly picked up a quarrel and threatened the worker, Vinoth, after he grabbed their car key for playing loud music in the forest area.

Based on a complaint from Vinoth, police detained the trio.

However, the youth told police that the forest department staff had abused them and grabbed their car key, when they asked for his identity card as he was not in his uniform.

Cases have been registered against the three after rejecting their counter-complaint, police said.
