Three held in a rape case

Three persons were today arrested from the city in connection with the rape of a 20-year-old girl, police said.

The incident had taken place on Sunday night when the victim was returning home from work, J Narender Goud, Inspector of Hayathnagar Police station, said.

"The victim was dragged into the car when she was coming home around 9.45 pm on Sunday. As per the complaint lodged by her, she was taken to an isolated place at Padda Amberpet and one of them raped her," the police official told PTI.

One person from the victim's village witnessed the incident and alerted the villagers, who in turn called the police.
 

"All the accused were arrested and would be produced in the court tomorrow," Goud said.

The victim was sent for medical examination and the statements of the accused and the victim are being verified, police said.
