Three persons, including the husband of a village head and his stepdaughter, were arrested in connection with flesh trade from an area under the Khuthar police station here, the police said today.

The locals had yesterday informed the police about a man "negotiating" with another motorcycle-borne man on the Nagariya bridge on Banda Road and subsequently, sending his 20-year-old stepdaughter to a spot under the bridge, Circle Officer (CO) M S Rawat said.

A police team rushed to the spot and arrested Jageshwar Verma, his stepdaughter and the "customer", the CO said, adding that the girl had claimed that her stepfather had "used her for such purposes" earlier as well.

Verma's wife is the 'pradhan' (head) of Mudigavan village, he said, adding that a case had been registered against the three.
