Three members of a family were killed after consuming poisonous food in Gangwal bazar area here last night.
Jagat Narain (28), his father Badlu Ram (50) and his daughter Pallavi (6) were taken seriously ill after consuming dinner and were rushed to hospital where they later died, Superintendent of Police Lav Kumar said today.
According to reports, Jagat Narain had purchased wheat and taken it for grinding without washing it, the SP said, adding the family consumed 'chapatis' prepared from it in dinner.
Apparently, some chemicals mixed in the wheat during storage led to poisoning.
