Three persons were killed and one was critically injured when a goods train rammed into an autorickshaw at an unmanned level-crossing today in Kharagpur in West Bengal's West Midnapore district.

District superintendent of Police B Chandrasekhar said that one person, grievously injured in the mishap at Sadatpur village, was admitted to Midnapore Medical College Hospital.

Soon after the incident, local people demonstrated at the village demanding a manned level-crossing. They also broke the windows of the police van when it went there.

Later, the protesters blocked the National Highway-6, the SP said, adding that the situation was under control.
