Three students drown in lake in Gujarat

Three polytechnic students, two of them teenagers, drowned in a lake in Surendranagar district of Gujarat, police said today.

The three, all friends studying at a polytechnic institute in Surendranagar town, drowned when they entered a lake situated near their college to take bath last evening, an official from the Surendranagar City B Division police station said.

Two of them were from Ahmedabad, while the third one hailed from Sadla town of Surendranagar district, about 130km from here, he said.

"The incident took place last evening and their bodies were fished out by locals and a rescue team in the night," the official said.

 

The deceased were identified as Sachin Shukla (16), from Sadla town, Deep Prajapati (17) and Yogesh Prajapati (20), both from Ahmedabad.

A case of accidental death was lodged and the bodies were handed over to the relatives of the deceased after post- mortem, the official added.
