Three Taliban militants killed in gun battle in Pakistan

Security forces have killed three militants of the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in a gun battle who were involved in kidnapping eight military personnel in the country's financial capital here.

The terrorists opened fire at the sight of the Paramilitary Rangers in Lyari area, prompting the troops to retaliate which resulted in the three militants getting killed, a spokesman of the Rangers said today.

The militants were involved in targeting police posts, blowing up schools in the restive Federally Administered Tribal Areas, looting arms and ammunition trucks belonging to law enforcement agencies and kidnapping of eight Frontier Corps personnel, he said.
 

One Rangers personnel was injured in the exchange of fire, he added.
