Three sanitation workers allegedly died of asphyxiation after inhaling poisonous gas while removing sewage from a tank at a factory in Bawal, 15 km from here, police said today.

The victims were identified as Suraj (19), Dinesh (47) and Raj Tilak (22), they said.

The incident took place at an auto parts making unit located in Industrial Area of Bawal yesterday.

The victims were hired for disposing of the sewage in the tank.

First Suraj went into the tank where he inhaled poisonous gas. When he did not come out for a long time, Dinesh and Tilak went inside and they also inhaled the gas, police said.

Fire fighters were called to take out the workers and they were rushed to a local civil hospital, where doctors declared them 'brought dead'.

A case of causing death by negligence has been registered against the manager of the company, police said.
