A crab hunter was killed by
a tiger in the Sudarbans in South 24 Parganas district today, forest department officials said.
Nikhilesh Mondal (58) along with two others had gone to Pirkhali forest in the Sundarbans to catch crabs when a tiger pounced on him and took him away.
His companions chased the tiger, which then fled from the spot leaving behind Mondal, the officials said.
Mondal, however, was dead by that time.
The body was brought to his village Shantigachhi under Gosaba police station.
