Tight security arrangements will be made for forthcoming Chehelum and additional force has been provided in some districts of Uttar Pradesh.
IG (law and order) A Satish Ganesh told that additional 30 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary and 12 companies of Rapid Action Force has been provided in 17 districts of the state.
These districts include Lucknow, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Amroha, Mau, Moradabad, Bareilly, Kanpur, Hardoi, Agra, Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Faizabad, Meerut, Varanasi and Kushinagar.
Chehelum is observed on the 40th day of the 'Ashura' to mark the commemoration of the killing of Imam Hussein, the Prophet Mohammed's grandson, in Iraq 1,400 years ago. This year it will be observed on December 14.
He said that additional nine ASPs, 12 DySPs, 10 companies of PAC and two of RAF has been provided in Lucknow.
