Tina Turner relinquishes US citizenship

Singer-actress Tina Turner has formally relinquished her American citizenship.
Turner, 73, who lived in Switzerland for nearly two decades, was in the US embassy on October 24 to sign her 'Statement of Voluntary Relinquishment of US Citizenship' under Section 349 (a)(1) of the Immigration and Naturalization Act, reported the Washington Post.
A source said to the websitr that she did not formally renounce her US citizenship under 349(a)(5) Immigration and Nationality Act, but took Swiss citizenship with the intent to lose her US citizenship.
