West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury today alleged that the rise in factional feud in the ruling Trinamool Congress caused "serious law and order problem" in the state.

"The clashes between TMC workers themselves have resulted in serious breach on the law and order front in the state", Chowdhury, MP and former union minister told a party meeting at Alampur here.

"People in the state are scared. They have removed the left for its terror tactics but the TMC regime has all but eclipsed its predecessor," he said.

Chowdhury alleged that the strife among TMC's trade union wing hampered production in profitable units and impeding industrial growth as a result.

"Since TMC came to power in the state, 22 factories had to be closed and workers were suffering", Chowdhury said.

Turning to state Congress, he said despite having a dedicated workforce there was a dearth of true leaders in the party. "We must work from the grassroot now," he said.
