The Trinamool Congress today received a shot in the arm when some Left Front and Congress councillors from two municipalities in West Bengal joined the party.
Announcing the switch-over of the councillors of Coochbehar and Midnapre municipalities to reporters at the TMC headquarters, party general secretary Mukul Roy claimed, "From Jangalmahal to hills, there is this same trend. This is an indication of the rising support of people for the party and its supremo Mamata Banerjee."
Roy also said that former Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) MLA Shanta Chettri and other hills leaders were in touch with him.

Roy, however, did not elaborate, saying "we should not come out with everything in one day."
Two CPI(M) councillors and two Forward Bloc councillors joined the Trinamool Congress from Coochbehar Municipality in North Bengal taking its number to 15 in the 20-member body, he said.
In the 25-member Midnapore Municipality, headquarter of West Midnapore district, three members from the Congress joined the Trinamool Congress, taking its tally to 16.
Thus in both the municipal bodies, which the Trinamool Congress already held, it strengthened its position.
