Claiming "overwhelming" response to the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable Television Corporation (TACTVC), the state government today said its subscriber base has risen manifolds to 70.52 lakh as of last month.

"The response from the local cable operators and public is overwhelming and more and more cable operators and general public started to come into the fold of TACTVC," state IT Minister N Subramanian informed the state Assembly.

"This is evident from the fact that the subscriber base of TACTVC which was 4.94 lakh on September 2, 2011 has risen to 70.52 lakh connected through 26,246 local cable opertors as on July 15, 2014", he said.

He said the TACTVC reached the break-even level in 2013-14 and would improve the net profit for the year 2014-15.

According to him, the TACTVC reported unaudited net profit of Rs 12.02 crore for 2013-14.
