A top Kamtapur Liberation
Organisation (KLO) militant, carrying a cash reward of Rs 10,000 on his head, has been arrested in Malda district, a senior police officer said today.
Kumud Mondal alias Jhakasu (26), a top KLO militant, was arrested by a police team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Shyam Singh last night from Habibpur area of the district, Superintendent of Police Kalyan Mukherjee said.
The police team led by the ASP raided the area around 10.30 PM last night and arrested Mondal and another person Atu Roy (40) when they were holding a meeting, the SP said.
Mukherjee said Mondal was responsible for carrying out all the KLO operations in Malda district, including the firing on a bus on December 27 last.
In the KLO hierarchy Mondal is second to Malkhan Singh, the KLO 'Commander', the SP said.
