Top Shrigonda mun council officer held for accepting bribe

A top official attached to Shrigonda Municipal Council in neighbouring Ahmednagar district was arrested by ACB today for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 4,000 from a building contractor for returning official favour.
Chief Officer (Class II) Chandrakant Sonawane had demanded bribe for granting construction permission to the contractor, ACB said in a press release.
He was caught red-handed while accepting the amount on the council campus.
In another case, the ACB caught Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Asishafi Abdul Mujjavar, attached to Muktai Nagar police station in Jalgaon district, for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 2,000 from complainant for preventing his arrest.
