Traders in Nadaun town here pulled down their shutters today and observed strike in protest against raids conducted by Excise and Taxation department during past one week.
Accusing the department of harassing traders, the leaders of Beopar Mandal said the department was conducting raids to harm their business even though they had paid due taxes.
However, dhaba owners, medical stores and vegetable sellers to were exempted and allowed to keep their shops open so that no inconvenience was caused to the people.
Vinod Kumar, President of the Nadaun Beopar mandal alleged that the department was resorting to repressive measures to intimidate and harass the traders for no reasons.
