Trailer hits tanker containing HCl; no one injured

The discharge valve of a tanker containing Hydrochloric acid was damaged causing leakage of the chemical when a trailer dashed into it at Tata Steel's Hot Strip Mill (HSM) Transport Park here today, company sources said here.

No one was injured in the incident as the company's fire brigade team immediately reached the site and diluted the leaking acid pouring water for two hours generating fumes, they said.

Adequate precautionary measures have been taken to restrain further discharge of the acid, sources said.
